I heard an orchestra playing, followed by a smaller band. I was in Brussels, heading towards Grand Place. I had to take a look!
But when I saw this
only to be followed by this
and then this.
I have to say that I completely lost it. I videoed, but unfortunately could not attach to this blog, this orchestra playing Belgium’s national anthem. It was one of those overwhelmingly emotional moments of complete gratitude for being given the opportunity to be at that exact place in the world at that very moment. It continues to being tears to my eyes recalling how I felt that night.
One of the bands disappeared through a side exit and I ran like a groupie following it. The band stopped in an alley for a rest with me hot on their trail.
I was really exhausted from an early start of my day but I knew that I couldn’t leave. The crowds were enormous by this time and I could feel the enormity of the event that was beginning.
Regrettably, I had to return to my room for the night because I had an early train to Paris the following morning. I will never forget this day and evening for the rest of my life.
